Advantages of TOR-5
-
Low Relative Cost
The cost of TOR-5 system is significantly lower compared to the expenses associated with purchasing new transformers or the financial losses due to emergency failures, making it a cost-effective investment.
-
Solves Three Key Challenges
- Online determination of important transformer parameters.
- Filtering and drying of insulating oil.
- Prompt user notifications about system and transformer operations.
-
Versatility & Suitable for All Transformers
Suitable for new, aged, and multipurpose oil-filled transformers, any make, any model.
-
Long Service Life, Easy Installation, and Compact Design
Effective protection against damage and weather with IP54 rating, and all encompassing compact enclosure. Quick connection process post-preparation, taking just a few minutes.
-
User-Friendly Web Application & Remote Monitoring
- Displays list of substations and transformers per substation.
- Includes a map with transformer locations, measurements, and calculations represented as graphs and charts.
- Provides detailed information on oil condition over time or for a selected period post TOR-5 installation.
-
Dynamic Information and Assessment. with Automatic Oil Processing
Continuous data collection offers a more comprehensive and dynamic assessment of transformer status compared to periodic lab analyses. No need to disconnect the transformer for oil treatment. TOR-5 automatically shifts from diagnostic to oil filtration and drying mode when parameters hit predefined limits.
Key Features of TOR-5
• GlobeCore technology assesses transformer status through sensor-based measurements.
• Some parameters are directly measured, while others are calculated based on these measurements.
• Results are transmitted to the end user for review.
• Online measurement results can be interpreted via a web application or in the cloud, showing the range of measured and calculated values.
• Rapid deterioration can occur within days or hours, posing risks during off-work days or for distant transformers.
• The TOR-5 unit features a system for drying and filtering insulating oil to address this.
• TOR-5 automatically shifts from diagnostic to oil filtration and drying mode when parameters hit predefined limits.
Hardware Overview
All in one enclosure, Small Footprint, IP54, Easy Lockable Access. Placed next to the transformer and bolted to the foundation.

MODE 1
Diagnostic & Monitoring Mode
The GlobeCore monitoring approach utilizes the relative humidity of insulating oil to gauge transformer health. Water ingress into the transformer, often through seal leaks, poses a significant risk.
To mitigate this, the TOR-5 system employs sensors to continuously measure specific parameters every minute.
- temperature of transformer top and bottom oil
- active water in transformer top and bottom oil
- relative humidity of transformer top and bottom oil
- ambient air temperature
- relative humidity of ambient air

MODE 2
Oil Drying and Filtration Mode
The TOR-5 system filters and dries transformer oil using a sequential process involving a filter and adsorbers, ensuring the transformer remains dry and functional without the need for heating or staff presence.
- Oil is drawn from the transformer's bottom.
- It passes through a filter with a 10-micron fineness.
- It then goes through three adsorbers, each containing 15 kg of aluminosilicate sorbent.
- The filter removes mechanical impurities; the sorbent absorbs and retains water.
- Processed oil is returned to the transformer's top, maintaining functionality without heating, at a rate of 30 liters per hour.
- The TOR-5 unit switches to monitoring mode once oil parameters normalize.
- The system also helps remove water from the paper insulation, keeping the transformer dry throughout its service life.

TOR-5 with High Precision Hydrogen Sensor
A high-precision hydrogen sensor is additionally used as an indicator of transformer malfunctions. Hydrogen is formed in oil as one of the first gases already at the temperature of 150 degrees Celsius and accounts for up to 59% of all the gases released during the decomposition of oil molecules. Therefore, the content of this gas in insulating oil is a rather informative parameter for diagnostic evaluation of possible transformer malfunctions, in particular, occurring partial discharges. With partial discharges in oil, the weakest hydrocarbon bonds are broken through ionization with accumulation of hydrogen.
Secure Cloud-Integration, Access Transformer Health, Advanced Stats Remotely & Control Oil Filtration
All measured & calculated data are transmitted to GlobeCore Cloud Web-Interface with Specialized Software running via 4G or 5G LTE mobile network available at the location of the equipment.
On the cloud server, other parameters are calculated using special formulas and give more complete information about the transformer status
- water content in transformer top and bottom oil
- water content in solid insulation at transformer top and bottom;
- breakdown voltage of oil
- oil quality index
More parameters allow going beyond the scope of simple assessment of water content in the transformer and proceeding to assess various risks associated with the presence of water in oil and paper insulation.
Easy Installation within Minutes
The TOR-5 is connected with hoses or pipes. This connection can be done by one person, using quick-coupling connections. The operations takes only a few minutes.
